Why am I totally against having a reselling strategy as a long-term plan?

Because your business is not protected. You can lose everything in one day.

You are selling someone else’s products on someone else’s platform.

That’s the primary reason WHY I’m up for the Private Label Strategy.

However, you can face copycats. Apple has them. Every single big brand has copycats. Look at Louis Vuitton, DG, Burberry, etc.

In this case, it’s a good sign of having an awesome brand that not just unscrupulous sellers want to copy, but also people who can’t afford it and are doing their best to have at least a little bit of it.

We’ll talk about building a brand in another issue.

What about your protection? While you are growing sales of your product, you have to stay secure and confident in your foundation that no one can take away. In the case of a stinky “infringement” claim, you need to have legal grounds to get rid of the problem.

How to protect yourself without having a headache?

Would you agree that people love headaches and make simple things complicated?

I see it ALL THE TIME.

The moment you have an idea for a product brand, please make sure to file a trademark.

Here are several primary hidden slippery rocks:

  1. You have to do a proper legal search to ensure no one else has filed a similar name in the same category (if you had the idea, someone else might have had this idea too—don’t treat yourself as a genius who invented something that turns out to not be original!

  2. You have to properly fill out the documents and file them.

  3. You need to have the right strategy so that you apply for the trademark that will give you the protection you need

Should you do it yourself? Yes, if you have positive experience in the past with the exact same problem.

HARD NO, if you do not.

Research and filing don’t cost much compared to the mistakes you can make and future problems you might face.

Poor quality companies charge about $50-$500; the chance that you will waste your time (6-8 months) and have to re-file the documents is very high.

Top-rated attorneys charge between $600-$1,500 for the TM research and $1,000-$3,000 for filing.

#1 After Prime Day, you should launch Brand Tailored promotions and keep running them evergreen. This will help you target buyers who already had a first touchpoint with you.

Potential new customers, promising leads, and brand cart abandoners are your major targets. These buyers might purchase from you during Q4 as long as you stay in front of them. You will not be able to re-target these buyers unless they purposely search for your product again.

If you are selling consumables or subscribe and save items, launch repeat, top-tier customer, and brand-following promotions.

#2 Create your shipping plan with a future pick-up date, so Amazon expects your goods. This will help your inventory get unloaded to the fulfillment center faster. Don’t wait until your inventory is ready for pick-up to create the shipment.

#3 Even if your product has nothing to do with the holidays, change your themes accordingly. You are simply matching the shoppers' mood.
