As you’re reading this issue, it’s a Hurricane Milton moment around my house. We live in Orlando, and while we’re used to stormy weather, this time it’s different. Just two weeks ago, the Tampa area was hit hard, with many people losing their homes, and now they’re being hit again. It’s heartbreaking to see the devastation continuing, knowing that more houses are at risk.

We had to make some tough decisions—do we stay or do we go?

If we stay and things go south, it could be irreversible. If we leave and the damage is minimal, well, we got ourselves a nice trip to the mountains. My husband, who’s incredible at decision-making, structured our options.

The reality is, we’re an e-commerce-based company, and losing power or internet could halt our business, even if we have a generator. So, the decision had to be strategic, considering everything—even our little one who doesn’t do well with long trips and traffic.

When making decisions in challenging times,

it’s crucial to focus on what’s in our control and avoid the endless “what-ifs.”

Often, when faced with confrontation, the basic reaction is to defend ourselves aggressively. But the real power lies in not taking the bait and walking away with grace, without escalating the drama.

You’ll also meet people who are fair-weather friends—never truly taking a stand, not even for themselves. It’s important to recognize that when you have their back, they might not have yours. Be prepared for that.

When I moved to the U.S., I was surprised at how many people are deeply religious, to the point where they would sacrifice anything for their beliefs.

Ironically, some of these same individuals act in ways contrary to the teachings they praise, casting judgments like those who threw stones at Jesus.

It taught me that sometimes the best response is simply ignoring and letting karma take care of the rest.

Powerful people speak less but say more. They live their truths, and in doing so, they find peace. If you have an idol, try to emulate that level of grace and wisdom.

Remember, revenge is not necessary; kindness is the best response to those who wrong you. Life has a way of balancing the scales.
